In the sky: chimney swifts are back
Listen for high chittering overhead at dusk. Chimney swifts spend nearly their whole day on the wing, eating thousands of insects, and they roost in — you guessed it — chimneys. If your home has an unlined masonry chimney, leaving the cap off from May to August gives them a place to nest.
Building update
The energy study of the sanctuary and education wing is underway. Early findings: our biggest wins are LED retrofits and smarter thermostat scheduling. A fuller report comes to the congregation this fall.
